Val Viola - Valtellina

BBOI team wants to introduce you one of the best place in Italy to visit during autumn: Val Viola. This valley, located in Valtellina (Lombardia region), offers an itinerary of great landscape beauty, all surrounded by high peaks.

The path stars from a little hamlet called Arnoga and it crosses the valley, we have decided to follow a circular track by reaching Viola Lake and Viola Shelter, then the Federico Dosdé Shelter and finally a beautiful lodge called Baita Caricc, from here you can go back to Arnoga. This itinerary lets you to discover every hidden corner of this paradise, BBOI team suggests you to visit this place during fall when it is all colored orange and red.

The higher point of this trip is Viola Shelter at 2313 mt of altitude, whereas Arnoga is at 1870 mt so there is not such a difference in altitude and the path is very easy and enjoyable, but you have to walk many kilometers almost 20 km…so take the whole day!

You will see the most amazing scenario once arrived at Federico Dosdé Shelter where you will have Pizzo Dosdé in front of you with its stunning glacier at 3280 mt. This shelter is located in a plain full of vegetation, pines and creeks, so take a break and relax yourself among those colours, fresh air and priceless nature.

Unfortunately we didn’t arrived to Viola Shelter because of the bad weather, but the rest of the journey was worth it, look at the pictures below BBOI team has also found an hidden waterfall in the forest, it was like being in a fairy tale!
