Termoli, Larino and Civitacampomarano - Molise

The team of Best & Beauty of Italy has had the opportunity to visit the city of Termoli and two fantastic hamlets – Larino and Civitacampomarano – located in Molise region, southern part of Italy.

This region is the smallest after Valle d’Aosta, and it is characterized by a gorgeous environment with a pristine nature. There are also large and perfectly cultivated lands, with very smooth hills. Going towards the border with Abruzzo region, the environment become more harsh and mountainous.

Visiting Molise you feel the life pace of its people, a slow rhythm marked by seasons. This is a fantastic experience that will remain in your soul forever ! Only in the biggest cities of this region (among them Termoli) you can experience a greater vitality, which nevertheless remains always very gentle.

Here below we explain shortly some characteristics of Larino, Civitacampomarano and Termoli. The first one has Roman origins and is characterized by the presence of archaeological sites from that period. It also has a beautiful cathedral dedicated to San Pardo, patron saint of Larino. This cathedral dates back to the Medieval era.

Our stay during the visit to Molise, was at Agriturismo Essentia, a fantastic facility close to Larino hamlet, characterized by wonderful and large rooms, a wonderful huge meadow were you can relax using the swimming pool and last but not least the hall were breakfast, and launch are usually served. Worth mentioning the constant presence of Salvatore, responsible for the management of this fantastic structure and always available for useful suggestions about the main sites to visit in Molise. It must be emphasized that the food prepared in Agriturismo Essentia is fantastic and of course accompanied with special local wines.

Civitacampomarano dates back to the era of Roman Empire and it has had an important development during the Medieval era, incorporating several little hamlets that were located in the surrounding area. Nowadays Civitacampomarano is famous for its castle built in the XIII century and its fantastic murals painted on the facades of some houses.

Termoli is a wonderful city on the Adriatico sea and it has a little harbour. This city is characterized by the presence of Castello Svevo, a fortress located nearby the sea in the oldest part of the city, where the cathedral of Santa Maria della Purificazione is also located. This church is a fantastic religious building in Romanesque style.

Last but not least we had also the opportunity to watch the Carrese – ox race – in the hamlet of San Martino in Pensilis. A unique experience that will make you understand exactly the authentic spirit of this region. Something not to be missed !
