Rifugio Gabriele Boccalatte

Rifugio Gabriele Boccalatte e Mario Piolti (2803 m) is a shelter located on the Italian normal route that goes to the top of the Grandes Jorasses massif in the Mont Blanc chain. On the spur that is on the flank of Planpincieux glacier the shelter built on 1881 year under suggestion of the English mountaineer Edward Whymper is located. For an hiker to conquer the Rifugio Boccalatte is a fantastic and strong experience that will remain for all his lifelong. The route to this target is not simple because needs some experience for climbing, not difficult rocky walls are present in the path but a lot of attention must be paid. There are no words to explain the beauty of these places, furthermore the shelter has had little upgrading since 1881, so when you overcome its entry door you indeed jump back in the time, like to be on a time machine and you can feel the real dimension of the old mountaineers, pioneers ! Now only a last suggestion, this experience should be done with a friend, also but not only for a safety reason. Thomas shared with me this adventure with the right feeling, never pushing on the pace for the best pleasure of the gorgeous environment. So I would like to thank Thomas for his friendship and for having been with me to get this fantastic target and I hope that all of you could do these kind of experiences with a good friend.
