Porto Flavia and Pan di Zucchero - Sardegna

The BBOI team is pleased to present this special seaside destination: Porto Flavia and Pan di Zucchero. They are located in the Iglesias coast of Sardegna, precisely in the extreme south-west, and can be reached from Masua by boat or dinghy.

Porto Flavia is a harbour built in the 20th century, perched on a cliff overlooking the sea and used for the mineral trade. There are in fact tunnels dug into the rock, fascinating, isn’t it? The BBOI team thinks this is a special place to visit: you will love the contrast between the white of the calcareous rocks and the blue of the sea!

Pan di Zucchero is a natural monument in the middle of the sea and its name literally means “sugar bread”, a really curious name for a cliff! Transformed by karst phenomena, it reaches 133 meters in height and can be climbed thanks to an equipped path. We recommend you to try this experience suitable for everyone: a local guide is enough.

By boat you can also go through two caves dug into this large stack, so a truly wonderful tour! In addition to the boat ride it often includes a visit to some caves, such as Grotta Sardegna which is the best for its absolutely spectacular sea colors, but also the Grotta del Soffione. This last one is characterized by the waves that break into the cavity and spray, really funny!

Of course, during the trip it will also possible to take a bath in this light blue sea and if you have a snorkeling mask with you you will be able to admire colorful fish, different seaweeds and a clear seabed.

BBOI team recommends you to plan your summer holiday in the south of Sardegna if you love the sea, adventure and breathtaking landscapes.
