Noto is a fantastic village located in Sicilia region. It is characterized by its buildings that date back to Baroque period. Its main street is Corso Vittorio Emanuele and along it you can find most of the more important churches and palaces.

It is worth visiting Cattedrale di San Nicolò which sits at the top of an imposing staircase. This cathedral was built starting from year 1693, after the earthquake which largely devastated this area.

The history of Cattedrale di San Nicolò is characterized by some collapses and its last refurbishment dates back to June 2007.

It is worth visiting also Palazzo Nicolaci a classic example of Baroque period and it is a noble residence. Palazzo Nicolaci was built starting from year 1720 and has recently been refurbished.

Last but not least building that BBofItaly suggests to visit, is Chiesa di Santa Chiara or also called as Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta. This church was built starting from 1730 and works finished in 1758. Therefore also this building enclosed in a former monastery is a clear example Baroque period.

The particularity of Chiesa di Santa Chiara is that it is possible to visit its terrace located on the roof of the church. Up there you can enjoy a gorgeous view of Noto.

But let’s say that walking through the streets and alleys of Noto is a great pleasure. You can enjoy all the beauty of this village and taste the fantastic sweets like Cannoli, Granita, Cassata and every other kind of very tasty local food.

Not so far from Noto, it is worth visiting Capo Passero the southernmost point of Sicilia exactly in front of Africa and the island of Malta. Here you can find a fantastic shore and unbelievable landscape where Ionio sea meets Medirerraneo one.
