Mont Fallere - Valle D'Aosta

In a stunning lateral valley of the main Valle d’Aosta, there is Mont Fallere 3061 meters high. This peak with its impressive northern vertical face, is located on the watershed of Gran San Bernardo Valley that winds to the Switzerland board.

The path starts from the village of Vetan located at an altitude of 1770 meters. It winds inside the Fallere valley, overcoming a very steep slope completely covered by a wonderful Pine forest.

Fallere shelter is located at the end of this first part of the path, from where you can enjoy a gorgeous landscape on the main peaks of Valle d’Aosta. At Fallere shelter you can rest and enjoy tasty local food.

Being now in the Fallere valley, you can observe the southern face of the mighty Fallere mountain. From this position it is difficult to understand where the path to the summit winds, also because the last part of the face is really rocky.

At any rate after having almost reached the end of Fallere valley, the path starts to climb the first very steep slope of the mountain, until reaching a gorgeous lake called Lago Morto (Dead Lake).

Now you have to overcome the last part of the southern face of Mont Fallere, following a very challenging path that literally winds between huge boulders and is characterized by a very steep and slippery terrain. That’s why you must pay a lot of attention especially when you go back.

From the top of Mont Fallere you can enjoy a wonderful three hundred sixty degree landscape, which also includes the Mont Blanc range.
