Cloud caps on Grivola - Valle d'Aosta

The right hand orographic side of Valle d’Aosta is the one where you can observe fantastic landscapes on the most beautiful valleys of the region such as Valle di Cogne, Valsavarenche, Val di Rhemes, Valgrisenche. Furthermore during the winter this part of Valle d’Aosta facing south, receives a lot of sunlight.

On this side of Valle d’Aosta Lago di Joux is located. This is a little lake at 2000 meters of altitude. From this site with a very short walk you can reach Col du Mont Joux that is the natural gate to the awesome Vallone di Vertosan.

So if you want to spend some relaxing time, you must visit Lago di Joux encompassed by a wonderful environment characterized by pine forests and meadows.

You can leave your car in the parking of the little hamlet named Vens (1730 meters of altitude) and from here along a short path, Lago di Joux is easily reachable. Walking on this track you can see an awesome landscape, especially on Grivola and Gran Paradiso. The first is 3969 meters high, and the latter is 4061 meters high.

Here below you can see some pictures of Grivola and Gran Paradiso, taken from the path to Lago di Joux. These two mountains belong to Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso (National park of Gran Paradiso) and they have wonderful glaciers.

During the day BBofItaly took its hike, the weather was unbelievable with clouds making awesome and different shapes in the sky above the Grivola mountain.
