Il Noce e la Strega

Some rumors told us that close to AymavillesValle d’Aosta region – there was a fantastic Agriturismo with a very strange name Il Noce e la Strega. So we decided to directly collect clues on this particular site by visiting it.

In Italian language Agriturismo means a farm where guests can also eat food and sleep. In a nutshell a farm somehow linked with tourist activities.

Normally Agriturismo can prepare very healthy food done with ingredients from agricultural work. There isn’t menu as in a classic restaurant, because the very simple dishes are cooked only with seasonal ingredients.

Usually the dining room inside the farm is also very rural and simple. But in the case of Il Noce e la Strega we had a big positive surprise !

This Agriturismo is particular starting from its name. Il Noce e la Strega means “The Walnuts tree and the Witch” hence a Witch capable of transforming herself in a walnuts tree and vice versa.

The dining room is breath taking. It is a very old room, probably a stable, with a rocky and low roof characterized by vaults and completely refurbished. So dining in this location is an unmissable experience.

Food is very tasty. As said there is not menu, but believe us your palate will live an unforgettable experience.

Here some dishes we have tasted during our dinner:

Starter: Insalata con tonno di coniglio, noci e mele renette

First course (double): Gnocchi di pane con Bleu d’Aoste e cipolle carammellate and Tagliatelle fatte in casa con ragù di salamella

Second course: Salsiccetta, pollo e vitello accompagnato da purè

Dessert: Panna cotta con pesche ed amaretti

About wine we had the pleasure of drinking a fantastic red named La Sabla produced by Les Cretes winery.
