Forcola del Bre – Valgrisenche

A fall season day in Valle D’Aosta spent for visiting Forcola del Bre, a depression at 2829 meters between Testa del Rutor (3486 meters) and Mont de l’Arp Vieille (2963 meters). Forcola del Bre is located at the end of Vallone dell’Arp Vieille and is reachable from Valgrisenche. The path to get this target is long but not so difficult. Only in the last part it is characterised by 25 hairpins and because of this it gains altitude very quickly. During the war period on Forcola del Bre a shelter was built for better control the French border, that is located very close in this area. This shelter is named Ricovero Florio, and of course is no longer used. The landscape from the very lonely Forcola del Bre is breathtaking. It seems that the Gran Paradiso (4061 meters) glacier can be touched with the hand and the view on Valgrisenche is fantastic.
