Cima Mutta

Cima Mutta (2135 m) is the first peak of the ridge between the Val Vogna and the Val d’Otro.
The start point is from Cà di Janzo (1354 m) in Val Vogna and brings you through a pathway that offers magnificent panoramas during all the ascent.
After a small walk in the woods, getting to Selveglio (1550 m), a small hamlet counting few houses, the trees thin out and the Val Vogna opens up to your eyes. Following the pathway you reach Alpe Poesi (1715 m) and Alpe Piane (1832 m), two abandoned mountain pastures. From Alpe Piane, the view of Val Vogna and Valseisa is gorgeous and it’s possible to take a short rest laying on the grass and drinking some fresh water.
The final part of the pathway, that brings you from Alpe Piane to Cima Mutta (2135 m) it’s not always well signed and leads through stony ground that require particular attention.
Once on the top of Cima Mutta, a wonderful view of Monte Rosa opens up and it’s possible to admire the the Val d’Otro, the basin where Alagna Valsesia lies, the Valsesia and the Val Vogna. From this point of view, watching with attention, it’s possible to see a lot of shelters, bivouacs, mountain pastures and pathways which can be a destination for other wonderful excursions.
