Capanna Mambretti

Unbelievable area where Capanna Mambretti (Mambretti shelter) is located ! To get this place you have to walk along Caronno valley, reaching Scais dam. This valley stretches in the southern part of the main Valtellina.

It is in Lombardia region. More precisely in Sondrio district, but very close to the border with Bergamo district, delimited by a mountain range called Orobie. That area is characterized by very high peaks, the highest is called Pizzo Coca 3050 meters.

When the path leaves the Scais lake, it turns toward east reaching the Capanna Mabretti, very close to the end of Caronno valley. On the other south – west side of the lake, you can admire Val Vedello, another savage valley closed at its end by the imposing vertical north face of Pizzo del Salto (2623 meters high).

The landscape you can admire from Capanna Mabretti is really gorgeous. In front of the building there is the watershed with Bergamo side, composed by rocky mountains. This watershed is so close that it seems you can touch its peaks simply stretching out your arms.

This part of Orobie is relay wild and pristine and if you want to have an unforgettable experience, you cannot miss Capanna Mambretti.
