Are you fond of dishes with meat ? The Brasserie du Bon Bec can make your day ! This is one of the most important restaurants in Gogne, a nothing short of fantastic hamlet in Valle d’Aosta region.
Cogne is in a drop dead extraordinary position, and from its beautiful meadow of Sant’Orso you can observe the Gran Paradiso mountain range (4321 meters of altitude for its highest pick) with the breathtaking glacier named “della Tribolazione” (glacier of Tribulation), a name that makes you understand exactly what it is !
Cogne is a luxury hamlet which however keeps its origins unchanged. There aren’t large hotels here, but little houses and accommodation facilities still with ancient architectural characteristic. Strolling around Cogne is a big pleasure, and we at Best & Beauty of Italy were very eager to visit the hamlet and its Brasserie du Bon Bec.
The interior of the restaurant is furnished in classic mountain style. The furniture is mainly made of wood, and the atmosphere is very cosy. So spending time with friends in Brasserie du Bon Bec is a great pleasure.
Of course when it comes to the food, it is nothing short of extraordinary ! We tasted the following recipes:
La polenta alla Valdostana – Polenta with Fontina (local cheese) and melted butter. Note: never miss this dish – a classic from Valle d’Aosta region !
La Frecachà – Veal meat, potatoes, onions, savoy cabbage salad. Note: unbelievable and very particular dish !
La Pierrade – several kinds of meat and vegetable to be cooked at the table on a hot stone, with fried potatoes and sauces. Note: tasty experience for your palate to be shared with friends !
