Becca della Traversiere - Valle D'Aosta
On the border with France, at the end of Rhemes valley, stands a stunning mountain called Becca della Traversiere (Traversiere beak). Its altitude is 3337 meters above sea level and it is encompassed by gorgeous mountains and glaciers.
Rhemes valley is a lovely place, one of the most beautiful side valleys of the main Valle d’Aosta. In this valley the dominant mountain is the Granta Parey which in the local dialect (Patoué) means “big wall”. In fact it is characterized by a huge and very long vertical face and the summit of Granta Parey is at an altitude of 3387 meters.
The path starts from the Thumel zone in Rhemes valley at an altitude of 1848 meters and after having walked for a few kilometres through the bottom of the valley, it climbs up reaching a huge upland.
Here you can admire Becca della Traversiere, the side of Granta Parey where the Goletta glacier lays, a glacial lake called Lago di Goletta, other minor glacial lakes and peaks. Let’s say it is an unbelievable landscape at an altitude of 2700 meters !
From this gorgeous area the path begins to climb again towards the Bassac Dere pass located at an altitude of 3081 meters. This section of the trail is very steep ! From this pass begins the last stretch of the path that leads to the top of Becca della Traversier.
Here there is a small cross, and the landscape you can enjoy is really unbelievable !
